Christmas in the Corner

20/12/2021

The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Greenwoods Corner this year with a large array of festive windows popping up in and around the village centre.

Make a point of stopping by, take a look at the window displays on show and explore what seasonal treats are on offer. There are plenty of reasons to keep coming back to the Corner!

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year from the Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association.

Greenwoods Corner Local History

19/10/2021

Greenwoods Corner’s new historic shield at the intersection of Manukau and Pah Roads provides an interesting glimpse into the past.

The area has seen a lot of change from its days of grand homesteads and sprawling farmland but still manages to retain a village charm that is not easily replicated.

We are hugely grateful to Dr Helen Laurenson of the Epsom Eden District Historical Society for researching the content for the shield and to our friends at Epsom Dolls and Craft for painting the signage post.

Epsom Rotary donate Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Business Association

24/6/2021

Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association was recently the recipient of Epsom Rotary’s generous donation of an AED.

AEDs are portable, lightweight devices that analyse the heart’s rhythm and if necessary, deliver an electric shock, known as a defibrillation, to help restore the heart’s natural rhythm.

Having an AED in the community can make the difference between life and death. St John New Zealand notes that the use of an AED can increase someone’s survival chances by up to 44%. Without an AED, the chance of survival decreases by 10% for each minute that passes without defibrillation.

The AED will be stored at On Point Physio, 594 Manukau Road, and is readily available for public use during their hours of operation in the case of an emergency.

New Canopy

27/1/2021

Somewhat appropriately, our new canopy, offering some much needed shade to pedestrians, was installed on one of the hottest days of the year so far!

The sleek design is bookmarked by Greenwoods Corner's new logo and stands proudly at the crossroads of Manukau and Pah Roads.

Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association hopes that this new public amenity which was commissioned by the Business Association with the financial support of the Albert-Eden Local Board will be well-used by locals and visitors alike

New Canopy Installation

14/1/2021

During summer 2021 a new canopy will be installed by the Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association on the pergola at the crossroads of Manukau and Pah Roads (outside the former ASB Bank).

The pergola itself has already been sanded and repainted by some of our awesome volunteers, and following a vote at the Business Association’s launch event, the colour chosen for the new canopy was… black.

Final designs for the canopy have been approved and fabrication will begin shortly. Watch this space!

Transmission Box Artwork

1/1/2021

Over the summer of 2020 and 2021, Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association worked together with Chorus, 2Degrees and Vector to create a three-part native flora and fauna art installation to reflect the proximity of the Greenwoods Corner Business Area to Maungakiekie/ One Tree Hill.

The enormously talented graffiti artist _G_A_S_P_ was commissioned by the business association to bring the vision to life and infuse some colour and vibrancy into three transmission boxes along Claude Road and Ngaroma Road.

The three installations featuring tui, silvereye and kingfisher are unique in their own right and are well worth a visit in person to appreciate!

LAUNCH PARTY.....WHAT A GREAT NIGHT!

18/11/2020

Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association celebrated its establishment with a launch party on 16th November 2020. Jono Pryor (TV and Radio Personality), Rachel Langton (Albert-Eden Local Board) and Joanne Plant (Business Association President) were guest speakers at the hugely successful event.

After an initial welcome and some networking, guests were invited to participate in a “world café” event as part of the evening. The aim of this was to collect and link ideas on four key topics relevant to the focus and ongoing operation of the business association, namely:

  1. What should the first priority of the business association be?
  2. What are the opportunities for the business association?
  3. What would success look like for the business association?
  4. What would the business association have to do for you to remain a member?

Following the launch, the answers to each of these questions have helped the business association to identify its short, medium and long-term goals and serve as guidance to the committee to ensure that their actions and decisions reflect the interests and aspirations of their members.

Guests were also asked to vote on the colour of the new canopy that the business association have commissioned for installation on the pergola at the crossroads of Manukau and Pah Roads (outside the former ASB Bank). Check out our New Canopy Installation news update for the result.

Grazing table food for the event was supplied by Greenwoods Butchery, Forest Eatery Café, Ninja Sushi, Greenwoods Bakery and The General.

Bouquets and floral arrangements for the event were donated by Molly Blooms.

Vouchers for the event were donated by On Point Physio, Exile Hair Design and The General.
