A New Community Partnership with the Blues
Greenwoods Corner is proud to be partnering with the Blues for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season — and we couldn’t be more excited to bring a bit of game-day energy into our village! This partnership is all about community, families, and shared moments. It’s not about big sponsorships or flashy promotions. It’s about locals supporting locals, getting behind our home team, and creating a buzz in the neighbourhood on game weeks. Painting the Village Blue The Blues’ first home game is on Saturday 14th February, and we’ll be marking the occasion by “painting Greenwoods Corner blue”. From Monday 9th February to Sunday 15th February, you’ll start to see:
Our committee members and volunteers will be visiting businesses to help get flags and posters up, making it easy for everyone to take part. A Big Focus on Families A key part of this partnership is making game day more accessible and exciting for families. LEGO Little Blues Passports Kids can get their hands on a LEGO Little Blues Passport, which includes:
It’s a brilliant way to get kids excited about rugby, while giving families a fun and affordable reason to head along to Eden Park. Family Pass Giveaways We’ll also be running family pass giveaways to Blues home games (2 adults + 2 children), promoted through our Greenwoods Corner Facebook and Instagram social media channels. Why This Matters At its heart, this partnership is about:
It’s easy to take part, there’s no cost to businesses, and every bit of blue in the village helps build that sense of pride and togetherness. Join In If you’re a local business, keep an eye out for our volunteers and say yes if you can — even a single flag in a window makes a difference. If you’re a local family, watch our socials for giveaways, passport info, and game-week reminders. Together, let’s make Greenwoods Corner a place that really gets behind the Blues this season. Greenwoods Corner is officially stepping into the season - and this year it’s wrapped in the magic of a “White Christmas.” The village’s much-loved annual Christmas stencil installation has returned for 2025, transforming shop windows into a snowy celebration of nostalgia, community, and just a bit of festive whimsy.
If you wander through the village right now, you’ll spot the familiar flurry of white silhouettes, snowflakes drifting across glass and classic Christmas scenes that make the neighbourhood feel like it’s tucked into its very own holiday movie moment. A Village Christmas with Heart This year’s “White Christmas” theme pays homage to the warm, cozy memories people hold close during the season, but the village has added its own unmistakable twist: a celebration of connection, kindness, and giving back. The goal is simple, bring people together. And nothing does that quite like a shared mission, which is where the “Fill the Blues Bus” comes in. Giving Back with The Blues In partnership with The Blues, Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association is encouraging our local community to get behind the Fill the Blues Bus campaign to help families who could use a little extra support this holiday season. There is one more drop-off date remaining to donate non-perishable items to this worthwhile cause, so please give generously. Donation drop-offs can be made on Saturday, 29th November at Caring 4 Smiles (475 Manukau Road) or Exile Hair Design (2B Ngaroma Road) during their normal business hours. More Than Decorations While the stencils bring the village its holiday sparkle, the real glow comes from the way people show up for one another. Whether it’s through donating food, volunteering time, or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere together, the message rings clear: Christmas in Greenwoods Corner is about connection. So, if you’re passing through over the next few weeks, take a moment to stroll the snowy-themed streets, snap a photo or two, and — if you can — drop something into our Fill The Blues Bus drop-off points. Because here in the village, the magic of a White Christmas shines brightest when the community gathers to share it. Support Fill The Blues Bus 2025 Campaign with Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association3/11/2025
"Fill The Blues Bus" is a campaign aimed at combating food insecurity across Auckland and Northland. With the holiday season bringing heightened financial pressure for many families, the demand for food support continues to rise. In New Zealand, it is estimated that 1 in 5 children live in households experiencing food insecurity. The Blues with the support of Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association are responding to this urgent need by engaging our local community to gather and distribute food donations in the lead-up to Christmas. Please drop off your non-perishable food and funds to those who need it most this Christmas. Collection points have been set up at Caring 4 Smiles (475 Manukau Road) and Exile Hair Design (2B Ngaroma Road) on Saturday 15th and Saturday 29th November (please see the poster for drop-off times). The Blues will then deliver the donated items to the three regional food charity partners. Please give generously. Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association (GCEBA) is pleased to announce that with the financial backing of the Albert-Eden Local Board, it has appointed a contractor to install improved security lighting in key areas throughout Greenwoods Corner village.
This initiative reflects GCEBA's commitment to enhancing public safety, supporting local businesses, and fostering a more welcoming environment for residents, shoppers, and visitors alike. Installation work is set to begin in Q4 of 2025. The upgraded lighting will focus on those pedestrian areas, public walkways and shopfronts identified as needing better illumination to deter criminal activity and improve nighttime visibility. “Improved lighting has been shown to reduce crime and increase the sense of security within communities,” said Dominique Bonn, President of GCEBA. “By investing in our village's infrastructure, we’re not only protecting our businesses but also creating a safer and more inviting space for everyone who lives, works, and shops here.” Four key benefits of improved lighting in the village include:
Local businesses and residents will be kept informed throughout the installation process, and minimal disruption is expected during the works. GCEBA extends its thanks to all stakeholders and supporters of this initiative, which underscores a shared vision of a thriving, secure village. Following completion of the pedestrian crossing upgrade, Greenwoods Corner village now has a new traffic-light controlled crossing near 571 Manukau Road and is much better-connected.
The triangle-shaped layout of the Greenwoods Corner intersection is unique because of the angle that Pah Road and Manukau Road connect, with kerbside parking located inside the intersection. To improve the safety and accessibility of Greenwoods Corner village, the Albert-Eden Local Board allocated the sum of $547,000 towards the upgrade. Chairperson of the Albert-Eden Local Board, Kendyl Smith, stated that "to get to this point we’ve had robust conversations with all stakeholders, and initially it was proposed five parking spaces would have to go, however, after working closely with Auckland Transport and the community, we’ve retained four parking spaces, and added a new parking space into the layout, so the new design is not only safer, but we’re ensuring businesses can keep the parking spaces they require. It’s great to land on a final design that suits the different needs of Greenwoods Corner.” President of the Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association, Dominique Bonn, confirmed that the upgrades were a welcome addition to the area, stating "I’m pleased we’ve managed to land on a design that’s going to best-serve our community and the different users of Greenwoods Corner”. |
