Sustainability snapshot - Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand

We’re thrilled to share the incredible journey of the Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand EcoPlay Challenge!​ Over ten weeks, their dedicated team embraced sustainability, making impactful changes that benefit both our planet and our community.​

Here are some highlights:

1. Reducing Waste: Introduced soft plastic and paper recycling, and even started a garden with repurposed bins!​
2. Correct Food Scrap Sorting: Improved composting efforts and raised awareness about food waste.​
3. Special Recycling: Recycled Nespresso pods, making it convenient for staff to contribute.​
4. Advocacy and Engagement: Engaged staff with a fun sustainability-themed bingo game.​

Their efforts resulted in a significant reduction of our carbon footprint by 95kg CO2, equivalent to the emissions from a one-way flight from Auckland to Wellington!​

But they’re not stopping here.​ They’re planning more sustainable actions, including transitioning to electric vehicles, responsible event planning, and expanding our gardens with community help.​
