We are thrilled to share the incredible journey of Caring 4 Smiles, a dental practice dedicated to sustainability and protecting our planet!
Under the leadership of Dr. Loyola Correa, Caring 4 Smiles has made significant strides in reducing their environmental impact through the EcoPlay Challenge. Here are some highlights: 1. Going Paperless: Eliminated printed invoices and receipts, saving time and reducing waste. 2. Saving Water: Installed low-flow controllers and added water conservation reminders. 3. Recycling Dental Metals: Collecting and recycling gold, silver, and amalgams to reduce emissions and prevent pollution. 4. Promoting Energy Awareness: Encouraging mindful energy use among staff. 5. Managing Waste and Donations: Proper disposal of steripouches and donating unused equipment to clinics in the Pacific Islands. Over 10 weeks, they reduced their carbon emissions by 338 kg CO₂, equivalent to driving from Auckland to Timaru and back! Caring 4 Smiles proves that sustainability is not just achievable but essential for a thriving business, healthier patients, and a better world. Special thanks to Albert-Eden Local Board, and both Detlev Jackson and Daylyn Braganza from Auckland Council for their support! Let's make 2025 the year of sustainable change! Comments are closed.
