Greenwoods Corner came alive this past weekend as it hosted its first Easter Celebration, bringing together creativity, sustainability, and community spirit.
Families and locals were treated to a busy market day featuring arts and crafts, delicious food and competitions. The Creative Kids Collective and local artisans were out in force, showcasing the incredible talent and amazing skills present within our community. Many items for sale were made from recycled or sustainable materials, highlighting a strong focus on environmentally friendly practices, which was great to see. The Easter Bunny was a crowd favourite, handing out chocolate eggs to locals and visitors of all ages. The Albert-Eden Climate Action Network (CAN) also helped many aspiring artists enter into our two Easter Competitions by exercising their creative skills on the day of the event. These entries, together with those submitted online are currently being compiled for judging and the winners will be announced shortly. Thank you to everyone that attended our Easter Celebration in the Corner. Following the success of this first Easter event, organisers are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back again, hoping to make it a much-loved annual tradition for the community. Families across Auckland are invited to celebrate Easter with a sustainable twist at the Greenwoods Corner Eco Easter Celebration, taking place on Saturday 28th March from 9am-12pm at Greenwoods Corner in Epsom.
As part of the Albert-Eden & Puketapapa Eco Festival, the community event will bring together local arts and crafts, market stalls and competitions designed to inspire families to think differently about sustainability while enjoying a great morning out together. Hosted by Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association, the event reflects the village's strong focus on community connection and environmental awareness. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities on the day: come and meet the Easter Bunny - who will be handing out chocolate Easter Eggs; discover a range of stalls hosted by local businesses and artisans alongside art and craft stalls presented by the Creative Kids Collective; and participate in creative competitions designed to encourage sustainable thinking. Two competitions will run as part of the event:
Participants are invited to create Easter-themed artwork by either entering a colouring-in competition or creating their own masterpiece using recycled or sustainable materials. Prizes include LEGO packs, Easter treats and vouchers from local businesses. Entries close end of the day, Saturday 28th March 2026. A popular feature of the event will also be the Echo Tech E-Waste Egg Exchange, where visitors can bring along small unwanted electronic items and swap them for chocolate Easter eggs, helping divert waste from landfill. Click here for a full list of what e-waste can be exchanged. The event aims to celebrate the season, make sustainability approachable and fun for families and highlight the importance of reducing waste and reusing materials creatively. Greenwoods Corner Epsom Business Association Chairperson Dominique Bonn, says the event is about bringing the community together while promoting practical ways to care for the environment. "The Eco Easter Celebration is a chance for families to come together, have fun and learn simple ways we can all make more sustainable choices. Greenwoods Corner has always been about community, and this event is a wonderful way to celebrate that." Click here for a list of stalls and stallholder locations.
